Composition

LEVCON-M is a combination medication containing two active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs):

• Levocetirizine: An antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, a natural substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.

• Montelukast: A leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking leukotrienes, which are chemicals the body releases when you breathe in an allergen, thereby reducing inflammation in the airways.

General Description & Indication

This specific combination (Levocetirizine & Montelukast) is a widely used therapeutic formulation typically prescribed by healthcare professionals for the management of:

• Allergic Rhinitis: To relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itching, and watery eyes (both seasonal and perennial).

• Asthma Prophylaxis: In some cases, it is used to manage and prevent exercise-induced or chronic asthma by reducing airway inflammation.

By combining an antihistamine and a leukotriene antagonist, the medication provides a dual-action approach: it addresses both the immediate allergic reaction (via Levocetirizine) and the underlying inflammatory response (via Montelukast).
